Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone. We’d like to take a moment on this day dedicated to love to injected some much needed human resources perspectives—because, well, that’s what we do. And also, we just read CareerBuilder’s recently published annual office romance survey of more than 7,000 workers nationwide. It found that 38 percent of workers said they have dated a co-worker at least once over the course of their career. The survey also uncovered that 17 percent of the respondents reported dating co-workers at least twice, and 31 percent said their office romance led to marriage.
What industries lead the way in occurrences of office romances?
The following industries had the highest self-reported incidences of co-worker dating:
- Hospitality – 47 percent
- Financial Services – 45 percent
- Transportation & Utilities – 43 percent
- Information Technology – 40 percent
- Healthcare – 38 percent
