Sometimes we run across a blog posting that makes us think, “Man, we wish we wrote that!” (OK, this happens more than sometimes, but for literary purposes, let’s just roll with it.) One of these great reads was posted last week over at Human Capital League and is titled “‘The Oprah Effect– Even Recruiters Can Learn a Thing or Two from Oprah”. It’s take a recruiter’s-eye view of how Oprah Winfrey, who has been called one of the 100 most influential people in the world, has had a profound influence on our culture.

Be Who You are – Oprah appreciates people for who they are, as they are. She seeks out diversity in others. We sure have witnessed Oprah in all shapes and sizes over the years. She has been real by sharing what makes her who she is. A good recruiter find out how a candidate is wired and what makes them tick. Is the candidate a fit for the job, the company, the boss? Oprah tells us to be good with whom we are, but make sure you are real.
As we’ve written about here on our blog before, getting the best out of your recruiters is critical, which is why knowing what motivates them and what perspectives they have on their process, be it the “Oprah Effect” or something altogether different, is important.
